Protect against colds with a simple yoga exercise.
Yesterday I had severe cold. I did ‘Ling Mudra’. Within 15 minutes, I went to a deep sleep. When I woke up, I was completely relieved from cold.
During cold weather, our bodies need more warmth. We take care of this need, by using warm clothes. Sometimes, this may not be enough. Ling Mudra provides that warmth.
Inside human body, there are specific energies and elements – namely air, water, space, earth and fire elements that help it to survive. For example, during the cold weather, the body needs more fire element.
This is a simple exercise like acupressure, the Linga Mudra is done by the following way and is shown in the picture:
Interlock the fingers, with right thumb over the left thumb. Extend the left thumb as in the picture, which would resemble a Shiva Lingam – the Hindu God.
Do this for 10 to 15 minutes, and breathe in and out normally. After this exercise you will see your body temperature warm up. The author claims that even in Himalayas where the Mt. Everest is, some practice this and have been found to sweat after doing this exercise. You will find your body warming up right after you finish this exercise.
Tips from R. Mohan, author of 1 Minute Yoga.
