Our thoughts turn to actions sooner or later. So, when we have good thoughts it turns to good actions and similarly bad thoughts turn to bad actions. If you don't want to be embarrassed later like others who slip by saying wrong things at inappropriate moments, then don't cultivate or harbor any bad or evil thoughts from the beginning. Van Gogh's quote summarizes that.
